VASOVITE®
|
Dietary Supplement for Healthy Ocular Vasculature |
|
|
What Is VASOVITE?*
VASOVITE was developed by ophthalmologists and optometrists for use with patients that may have diets deficient in magnesium, vitamins, antioxidants and other ingredients necessary for maintaining a healthy ocular
vasculature.
VASOVITE is formulated with a complex of magnesium compounds, referred to as MagnaPlex™, that provide as much as 400 mg of elemental magnesium per day. Magnesium reduces the production of endothelin-1, a potent vasoconstrictor. High levels of endothelin-1 have been linked to restricted blood flow to the eye and increased intraocular pressure (increased nitric oxide). MagnaPlex optimizes the delivery of elemental magnesium in the
G.I. tract; maximizing dissolution to help improve absorption and minimize intolerance. Magnesium, when metabolized by the body and available at the cellular level, also acts as a physiological calcium channel blocker.
|
|
VASOVITE also contains folic acid that works in concert with magnesium, by reducing homocysteine levels in the blood, to improve vascular regulation. In addition, the VASOVITE formulation contains B complex vitamins, antioxidants, coenzyme Q10 and bioflavonoids.
Eyecare professionals recommend VASOVITE to patients that may benefit from dietary support and is a good choice for patients that wish to help maintain healthy ocular blood flow to the optic nerve.

CoenzymeQ10 |

 |
† |
 |
|
Often referred to as the “spark of the cell” because it initiates the enzymatic process that generates energy from ATP (adenosine triphosphate) in a cell’s mitochondria. CoQ10 is essential to all cells, but is especially important to cells in the energy-intensive
vascular system. |

† |
 |
|
Dilates coronary blood vessels, increases the force of heart contractions and lowers blood pressure by inhibiting angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE). ACE activates angiotensin, and consequently raises blood pressure. Flavonoids in hawthorn also neutralize free radicals and help prevent damage to
vascular cells. |

Facilitates the delivery of oxygen and blood lipids to cells. The
vascular system is enriched by a plentiful supply of oxygen and important lipids. |

Who Can Benefit From Taking
VASOVITE?*
VASOVITE is a good choice for people prone to or at risk of optic nerve damage as the result of:
| • |
Poor ocular blood flow |
| • |
Borderline intraocular pressure |
| • |
Low/normal pressure suspects |
| • |
Lack of natural neuroprotection |
In addition, VASOVITE may be helpful for
migraine patients.
|
|
|
|
Can
VASOVITE be taken in addition to a general multivitamin multimineral supplement such as CENTRUM®
(Lederle) or ONE-A-DAY®
(Bayer)?
Yes. The VASOVITE formulation was carefully developed to ensure that the amounts of all components were within a safe intake range
(NOAEL, LOAEL), even if taken with a general multivitamin multimineral supplement. There are vitamin and mineral components of
VASOVITE that exceed the maximum Daily Value or RDA. However, as stated by the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), exceeding the maximum RDA in no way means that such overage amounts are unsafe. There is scientific evidence that in certain body metabolic and physiological processes there may be an increased need for vitamins and minerals to maintain tissues and cell integrity and growth.
